What No One Seems To Be Telling Us About The Wise Men In The Bible

What No One Seems To Be Telling Us About The Wise Men In The Bible

It is nearly impossible to have anyone narrates the story of the birth of Jesus Christ without them mentioning the part where the wise men gave gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to him.

Surprisingly, these wise men are often mentioned in this exciting story because of their personality status in the society and level of humility whilst ignoring their relationship with the Almighty God.

In case you haven't heard this before, let me state it here categorically that these wise men never had no good relationship with the Almighty God.

Does that sound shocking or absurd to you?

I guess it does.

Hold on to me...

That statement above about the wise men in the Bible not having a good relationship with God is a pure fact from the Bible and not my own opinion.

Let me expatiate this fact, from the details given in the Bible, so as to clear your doubt.

You know once people come across the fact that the wise men gave Jesus gifts and worshipped him, they assume these wise men are good and apportion a state of righteousness to them, which is often the reason for mentioning them in every birth story of Jesus.

Onward...

Let's read what the Bible says in Matthew 2:1-2...

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem,

2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.

Hope you noticed the underlined statements from the scripture above?

It says ...“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East...

Do you know what those wise men said there reveal a whole lot about their lifestyle?

Have you ever ask yourself how those wise men got to know how that baby Jesus was born a king?

King of the Jews, to be specific, for that matter!

And hope you don't think for a second that it was God who revealed that vital info to them?

Banish such thought if that's what you have in mind.

Take a look at how they got to know the real identity of baby Jesus from the verse again below...

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem,

2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.

Can you see that underlined statement above again?

Do you now understand how these wise men got to know that Jesus was a born king, king of the Jews?

To reiterate, they got to know the real identity of Jesus through his star which they saw in the East.

Permit me to divert a little bit...

The birth of Jesus and the appearance of a star in the sky sort of confirm that we all are born with stars.

Of course, the glory of different stars meant for different people are different.

Moving on...

Back to where I was before the little diversion. The wise men saw the star of Jesus in the East and traced it down to Bethlehem of Judea.

Practically, if you are yet to grasp this whole point, come out of your house or wherever you are right now and look into the sky to behold the stars situated there (that is even if you are reading this Christian article in the night).

From those stars, which sorts of represent the people around your neighborhood, can you in anyway tell of the identities of those human beings right by just looking at their stars in the sky?

Sure...your answer will be NO.

A capital letter NO.

So, then, how did the wise men figure out the identity of Jesus through his star?

This will lead us to what you know as ASTROLOGY which is the study of celestial bodies interpreted as having a great influence on the destiny of human beings.

In other words, if you are not an astrologer, you can't possibly interprete the influence of a star over the destiny of someone.

Consequently, these confirms who the wise men in the Bible were. They were real astrologers.

Of course, you must have heard of these kinds of people from the story of Daniel when he was in Babaylon with the three Hebrew boys, that is by the way.

What The Bible Says About Those Who Read & Interprete Stars Like The Wise Men In The Bible

Now, take a look at what the Bible says about astrology below...

Deuteronomy 18:10-12

10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,

11 or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.

12 For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you.

From that scripture above, Moses revealed 9 things that are abomination to God.

1. Enforcing children to pass through fire in obedience to Molech god

2. Witchcrafty

3. Soothsaying

4. Interpreting Omen (that is interpreting signs of the celestial bodies like stars—an act of divination)

5. Sorcery

6. Magic

7. Medium (an act of being influenced by demons in order to gain the ability to communicate with spirits)

8. Spiritism

9. Necromancing (calling out the dead to communicate with them, as they do in traditional homes and in white garment church called "Amisa")

To number 4...

4. Interpreting Omen (that is interpreting signs of the celestial bodies like stars—an act of divination)

Can you see that Moses said interpreting Omen, otherwise known as astrology, is an abomination to God?

In fact, it is the number 4 out of the 9 abominations Moses revealed to the children of Israel.

It was because of these abominations that made God dispossessed the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Hivites and the Jebusites from their land.

Interpreting omen like reading signs of the moon to know its influence on anyone's destiny like the wise men of the Bible is an abomination to God

Without gainsaying, God detests astrology. In fact, Isaiah, the prophet, revealed astrologers won't make heaven in Isaiah 47:13-14...

You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels;

Let now the astrologers, the stargazers,

And the monthly prognosticators

Stand up and save you

From what shall come upon you.

14 Behold, they shall be as stubble,

The fire shall burn them;

They shall not deliver themselves

From the power of the flame;

It shall not be a coal to be warmed by,

Nor a fire to sit before!

Evidently, the post-birth story of Jesus revealed the reason God does not like astrology or any divination whatsoever: Astrology or other forms of divination reveals EVERYTHING God intends to keep from man.

Assuredly, you are aware that they are certain things God does not want us to know at some particular point in time of our life.

This is not just to keep secrets from us, but to save us from destroying ourselves.

If one is privy to certain information about one's life or someone close to one at the wrong time, it can ruin one's destiny or that of the person close to one.

Don't quote me wrong...it is not as if it is not good to know about one's future or one's identity. That of course is good.

This is why the Holy Spirit helps us prophesy.

The Difference Between The Revelations Of The Holy Spirit & The Of Act Of Divination

Mind you, Holy Spirit being God knows what to reveal and what NOT reveal based on timing.

On the contrary, for divination, the act reveals anything and everything about one irrespective of the timing concerned.

In case you've not noticed this...do you know it was this astrology practice of the wise men that got Jesus in trouble ever before he started his ministry?

Take a look at it below...

Matthew 2:1-4

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem,

2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”

3 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him

4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.

Hope you can see what caused trouble for Jesus?

IT WAS NOT HIS BIRTH BUT THE REVELATION OF THE WISE MEN.

The Bible says as soon as Herod the King heard that another king was born while he was still alive, he was troubled...not only him, but also everyone who lived in Jerusalem.

How can there be two Kings reigning at the same time?

The wise men's revelation troubled Herod the King, and he decided right there and then to trouble the whole land till the child was found and eliminated.

Do you even think for a second that God would ever want to end the ministry of Jesus ever before it started?

Your answer, of course, is as good as mine.

If you take your time, you will even discover that it was not only these wise men who knew about the birth of Jesus.

The Bible says an Angel revealed it to some shepherds watching over their flock on that fateful, glorious night.

Now, see what God revealed through his angel to the shepherds and compare it to what the wise men revealed to the people in the manger...

Luke 2:8-11

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.

10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.

11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

Can you see the difference in the revelations of God and that of the wise men?

From God's revelation, we can deduce that it was never God's intention to reveal the kingship of Jesus on earth, as he knew Herod the King was still on the throne during the birth of the Jesus who was supposed to save the world.

But wise men, through their devilish divination of astrology revealed THE RIGHT THING AT THE WRONG TIME and got the savior of the world almost killed before he started his saving mission.

Second, for the fact that someone is known or stated to be wise does not mean they can't make bad decisions.

These wise men who are often WRONGLY & UNBIBLICALLY depicted as three individuals in pictures and videos made wrong decision like Solomon, who happens to the be the wisest man on earth, yet made foolish marital "decisions" that costed him his glorious kingdom.

This is why it is very bad to follow the wise sayings of anyone without placing his words in tandem with the word of God.

So, what was the bad decision of these so-called wise men?

See Matthew 2:7-12

7 Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared.

8 And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.”

9 When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was.

10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.

11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

12 Then, being divinely Warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way

According to the Bible, they left to locate the born King as instructed by Herod the King so that they could fulfil their own mission and bring word back to Herod who deceptively told them his intent to worship the born king

Herod was troubled when baby born king Jesus was born due to the revelation stars.

In all the wisdom of the so-called wise men, they never thought of how dangerous it was to reveal the identity of a baby born king in a land full of the lovers of the reigning king.

In addition, in all their wisdom, they never thought that it could be a deceptive act for a reigning king to pay obeisance to a baby king who was supposedly expected to rule at the same time with him.

The moment they were done gifting and worshipping baby Jesus, of course, they planned going back to King Herod to reveal more about this special child and tell of his exact location. That was why God had to quickly warn them in a dream never to return to Herod but to find another way out of Judea back to their country.

In conclusion, being wise does not equate to being right at making crucial decisions in life, and for an individual Bible character being firmly attached to the story of Jesus does not in any way make them righteous.

PEACE.
