What Most Preachers Don't Tell Us About The Holy Spirit

Having knew the thought of the Pharisees, Jesus seized the opportunity to give extra caution to them, and of course to us all, not to think the Spirit of God was like him.  The statement Jesus made on that day brought us to a realization that Holy Spirit is quite different — in fact, "far far" different — from God the Father and God the Son. If you really know God the Father and God the Son quite well, and you relate to Holy Spirit the same way you relate to them, in no time, you will realize you've beaten more than you can chew. From this expository and thought-provoking post, you will learn a lot of things that most Bible preachers don't tell us — or forget to tell us — about the 3rd triune God, Holy Spirit. First, let me show you something fascinating in the Bible. Judges 9:7-15 7 Now when they told Jotham, he went and stood on top of Mount Gerizim, and lifted his voice and cried out. And he said to them: “Listen to me, you men of Shechem, That God may listen to yo...

How To Break The Dangerous Tie Between You and Your Parents

Generational curse

Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth.

And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

John 9:2

This conversation between Jesus and his disciples revealed a lot of things that go on in the life of people.

As Jesus passed, he saw a man who was born blind. As soon as his disciples sighted him, they asked Jesus a pertinent question. You may think the question they asked their master was irrelevant to the predicament of the man.

On the contrary, the question was not silly. It was simply based on the experience they’ve gained following the savior of the world.

To reiterate, immediately they saw the blind man, they asked who sinned between the man and his parent. Surprisingly, the question was not whether the man sinned or not; it was about who committed a sin.

In other words, seeing the man in such a situation led to the immediate conclusion of the man committing sin.

Actually, not all predicament emanated from sin. While some were made for the glory of the Lord, some came as a test of faith. For instance, in the case of Job, he was a good and perfect man. In other to test his faith and prove to the Devil his unequalled loyalty to God, great disaster was brought upon him.

8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

9 Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

12 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.

Job 1:7-12

As seen above, the predicament of Job had nothing to do with sin. In fact, the blind man in the Bible text of this article was born blind not because of sin, but for the glory of the Lord to be manifested in him.

Do not conclude the disciples of Jesus did not know the scripture. They must have heard about the story of Job before they saw that blind man. Their conclusion, as I mentioned earlier, was as a result of the numerous cases they’ve seen while working alongside their master.

After healing people, Jesus kept on saying, “go and sin no more.” Have you ever thought of why Jesus, the physician, would heal someone and tell the person to go and sin no more?

14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee

John 5:14

The man that was healed in the verse above had been by the pool, Bethesda, for long before Jesus met him there. He suffered an infirtmity for 38-years. After Jesus had healed him, he told him to go and sin no more.

Without mincing words, his 38 years infirmity was as a result of sin. To worsen his case, all he had to do was to continue in sin.

Mind you, the disciples of Jesus have stayed with him long enough to detect the reason behind the predicaments of the people their master healed. They’ve come to discover peoples' problems were caused by sin committed either by them or their parents.

To confirm their state of mind, read what the book of Exodus 34:7 says:

7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

God visits the iniquity of the fathers upon their children. In fact, to the third generation. Meaning, some people’s predicament were as a result of the sin of their grandparents.

Believe you me, there are some families that are suffering terribly from the sin of their grandparents. If your parents were bad people, you could be suffering for their iniquity due to the parent-children tie.

In the Bible days, the children of Achan died with him. The children suffered for the sin of their father. In addition, the children of Saul died with him for the iniquity of their father. If you keep reading the Bible, you will keep seeing lots of other instances where children suffered for the sins of their parents.

Are you experiencing turbulent times or undergoing serious health challenge that has taken more from you than expected?

If you are a good person, it could be a test of your test. If you are sinner, it could be a result of your sin. However, if it is not a test of your faith, it could be the result of the sins of your parents or grandparents.

The only solution to this dangerous family tie problem can be found in 2 Corinthians 5:17…

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

If you are not fully in Christ, your parents and grandparents pasts (old things) will continue to affect you. Give your life to Christ wholly and start a NEW LIFE that can never be affected by old things.

To give your life to Christ wholly, pray this prayer of faith and locate a God-fearing church to fellowship there.
