What Most Preachers Don't Tell Us About The Holy Spirit

Having knew the thought of the Pharisees, Jesus seized the opportunity to give extra caution to them, and of course to us all, not to think the Spirit of God was like him.  The statement Jesus made on that day brought us to a realization that Holy Spirit is quite different — in fact, "far far" different — from God the Father and God the Son. If you really know God the Father and God the Son quite well, and you relate to Holy Spirit the same way you relate to them, in no time, you will realize you've beaten more than you can chew. From this expository and thought-provoking post, you will learn a lot of things that most Bible preachers don't tell us — or forget to tell us — about the 3rd triune God, Holy Spirit. First, let me show you something fascinating in the Bible. Judges 9:7-15 7 Now when they told Jotham, he went and stood on top of Mount Gerizim, and lifted his voice and cried out. And he said to them: “Listen to me, you men of Shechem, That God may listen to yo...

Adam Was Neither White Nor Black. What Race, then, was he?

Everyone seems to be concerned about the color of his or her skin. In Africa, some women can spend lots of money to change the color of their skin, forgetting the fact that their ancestral backgrounds can never be changed.

Furthermore, the rate at which the number of articles, videos and talk shows on racism, increase in our time, is overwhelming. This, unfortunately, has gotten to the church to the extent that the Christians in one continent differentiate themselves from the ones in another continent based on skin color.

Some people even took it further by classifying the Bible characters based on their skin colors forgetting the fact that, no matter the color of our skin, we all emanate from one man who was no other person but Adam.

Therefore, whether you are white or black, does not matter because Adam was neither white nor black. More so, skin color, as we know,  is not resistant to environmental factors. In other words, the color changes over time across many generations.

If Adam was neither black nor white, what color of skin did he possess?

Let’s start with the meaning of Adam. That name was derived from the Hebrew word: ’ā·ḏām, which means something reddish in color. Remember Adam was made from the dust of the ground.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Genesis 2:7

Significantly, the dust that existed during the time of creation was of the finest nature ever. It’s unlike the brownish one we have in our generation.

The meaning of the name of this first man on Earth confirmed the color of dust present during creation.

Conclusively, he had a red skin. Come to think of it, no race was categorized based on this particular color, not even in Wikipedia. We only have, in no particular order, yellow, black, brown, white, dusky and orange.

Of course, having any of those aforementioned skin colors doesn’t make us illegitimate since Adam was red in complexion. Whether white or black, the gospel truth is that we are all the descendants of a man with a reddish skin.

Then, why do people believe black skin is accursed?

Story of Noah

After the flood in the bible (Genesis 6&7), Noah became a farmer and planted a vineyard from which he tasted of its wine. Unfortunately, he got drunk, and his nakedness was exposed.

After the incident, his last born known as Ham came in and saw his father’s nakedness.  Instead, as you know, of him to cover up his father, he called on his other siblings to witness his father shameful act.

His brothers, Shem and Japheth, took it upon themselves to take care of their father by covering him up without looking at his nakedness.

Eventually, Noah heard of the act of Ham and cursed him. This cursed son of Noah is popular known to have brought a generational curse in the Bible upon all black people.

But why black people alone?

If you remember how I figured out the skin color of Adam, it wouldn’t be difficult for you to get the skin color of another person in the Bible.

From the story of Noah, we figured out he gave birth to three children. Out of the three children, the whole world was populated.

Notably, Ham who was cursed gave birth to four children, namely, Cush, Mizraim, Put and Canaan.

In Hebrew, Cush, known as kūš, means something black. Intuitively, Cush, one of the children of Ham, was dark in complexion. Traceably, the Greek version of this name is Aithíops which was the word from which Ethiopia was derived. So, you won’t be wrong to say part of Africa inherited this generational curse in the Bible. Mind you, do not assume all African descents emanated from Ham.

Of course, that notion is wrong as there are other dark-skinned people who emanated from Shem.

10 These are the generations of SHEM: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood…

24 And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:

25 And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

26 And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

27 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat ABRAM, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.

Genesis 11:10-24

From the genealogy above, you will discover Abraham came from the family of Shem. Hope you can still remember from the generation of Abraham that he gave birth to Ishmael in the Bible before he had Isaac.

Here is what the Bible says about the children of Ishmael:

13 And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

Genesis 25:13

The second child of Ishmael in the Bible was Kedar whose name I highlighted above. In Hebrew, just as I’ve done aforetime, his name is qê·ḏār which denotes dark. In other words, he was as well a black man. That refutes the theory that all black people are cursed. To reiterate, since not all black people came from Ham, the cursed man, it means some black nations are blessed. Praise the Lord.

King Solomon

To prove my assertion above that some black nations are blessed as they didn’t emanate from Ham but Shem, the wisest man in the Bible was also a black man even though he came from the lineage of Shem.

Let me show you from his own very write-up in Song of Solomon 1:5…

I am dark, but lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, Like the tents of Kedar, Like the curtains of Solomon.

Can you see Solomon in the Bible comparing himself with Kedar I mentioned earlier from the generation of Abraham?

The Only Set Of People In The World That Look Like Adam.

From this article, undisputably, Adam was red in complexion. Considering his kind of skin color, hardly will you find people that look like him.

Traceably, if you visit South America, you will discover some set of people who lived in Kalina. These people are called Kalinago based on their location.

Actually, the Kalinagos are of three different kinds. Even though they are same set of people, they possess three different skin colors: black, yellow and red.

While the black ones are called Garifuna or Carifuna, the red ones are called the red Caribs, as they are Carribean residents.

The red Caribs are the only set of people on the surface of the earth with red skin like the ones Adam possessed in the Bible days.

To God be the glory…praise the Lord.
