Do You Make This Costly Mistake When Interpreting The Bible?

Without moving back and forth, let me put it to you that most mistakes Bible preachers and teachers make when interpreting the Bible stem from the incorrect selection of Bible passages.  In other words, mistake is almost inevitable in interpreting the scripture once a wrong choice is made in the selection of Bible passage.  For instance, if a Bible preacher or teacher or Bible study administrator or Sunday school coordinator make use of Acts chapter 9 to teach or preach about the conversion of Saul, if care is not taken, such a person will interpret that Bible topic wrongly.  Why? The answer is not farfetched. I told you at the introductory part of this Christian article that once a wrong choice is made in the selection of a Bible passage, a Bible interpretation mistake will be almost inevitable. Atleast, every Christian who goes to church knows this story of the conversion of Saul.  To start with, read that Acts 9 that I mentioned earlier. Please, don't jump over the Bible text

Christian Perspective On Abortion

Christian perspective on abortion

As much as hundreds of thousands of people are always willing to hear my biblical perspective on pressing life issues, I myself desire in no small measure to learn from others. And then on the issue of abortion, I read a few articles written by professors so that I can see other christian perspective on abortion; to my utmost surprise, all of these professors said the Bible is silent on the issue of abortion.

I find it difficult to believe these people who are well read have this implausible opinion on a very important topic like this.

For this reason do I release this my write-up which was intended for another posting date so that everyone can really see that the Bible is not silent on the issue of abortion.

In Bible school, there is something we call allusion. That is when a particular Bible portion or a particular verse of the Bible calls something to mind without mentioning it explicitly.

Of course, no Bible scholar is oblivious to this allusion term. So, when we say the Bible is silent on an issue, that means there is no allusion whatsoever on that topic in the Bible.

Please, I beg to differ. In fact, in no time, you will understand why I maintain this rigid position on the issue of abortion.

To make you understand my position better, let me prove to you that the Bible has something to say about abortion. After learning it here, I will be more than happy when you go out there and educate others about it so that everyone can really see that there is indeed a Christian perspective to abortion.

MISCARRIAGE AND ABORTION

To start with, let me start from where most people stand.

You see...I've come to realize that anyone who claims that the Bible has nothing to say about abortion often states that what is written in the Bible is on miscarriage and not abortion.

On that issue of miscarriage, I remember Exodus 21:22-25...

22 "If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she GIVES BIRTH PREMATURELY, yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished accordingly as the woman's husband imposes on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

23 But if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life,

24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

25 burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

Two men fighting cause miscarriage scenario in the Bible, Exodus 21:22-25

To reiterate what is stated in the scripture above, if two men are fighting and UNINTENTIONALLY hurt a pregnant woman to the extent that makes her lose her pregnancy, then the one responsible will pay a fine as stipulated by the husband of the pregnant woman.

In this case, a fine was stipulated because miscarriage was considered. That means a child was brought to the world prematurely as a result of their unintentional act.

By extension, the law continued by giving measure to the incidences that lead to the death of either the baby in the womb or the pregnant woman herself.

On that part, the law in verse 23 of that Exodus 21 mentioned "life for life" followed by eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for would and stripe for stripe.

Let me explain that part. We learnt this part also from the Bible school that the reason "life for life" was stated first in this case was if the pregnant woman dies as a result of the fight between the two men.

In other words, if the pregnant woman dies, the one  who causes the death of the woman out of the two fighters will be killed, that is life for life.

However, if the pregnant woman is alive but loses her child, then the second measure of "eye for eye" will be applied. Meaning, the person who causes the death of the baby out of the two fighters will still pay a fine, as eye for eye simply means monetary compensation in Hebrew tongue.

It was for this measure that many Bible enthusiasts believe that a baby in the womb, foetus, is not seen as a living person, that if not, the Bible would have stated" life for life" measure too for the death of the baby.

Actually, it is not that the Bible does not consider the baby in the womb as a living thing, the "eye for eye" measure was simply given due to the unintentional act of the fighter.

In case you are not aware of this, God favors unintentionality a lot. He is everly interested in the intent of every action. Unlike we human beings, we hardly pay attention to the intention behind people's action.

Contrariwise, God does not only judge people by merely focusing on their action, but also consider the intent of their action. The moment God figures out that the action is spurred by unintentional act, he goes out of his way to protect the person.

This is why there is city of refuge in the Bible.

God reserved 6 cities of refuge through the hands of Joshua as revealed to Moses so as to protect the lives of unitentional killers

The Lord also spoke to Joshua, saying,

2 "Speak to the children of Israel, saying: 'Appoint for yourselves cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you through Moses,

3 that the slayer who kills a person accidentally or unintentionally may flee there; and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.

4 And when he flees to one of those cities, and stands at the entrance of the gate of the city, and declares his case in the hearing of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city as one of them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.

5 Then if the avenger of blood pursues him, they shall not deliver the slayer into his hand, because he struck his neighbor unintentionally, but did not hate him beforehand.

6 And he shall dwell in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the one who is high priest in those days. Then the slayer may return and come to his own city and his own house, to the city from which he fled.' "

7 So they appointed Kedesh in Galilee, in the mountains of Naphtali, Shechem in the mountains of Ephraim, and Kirjath Arba (which is Hebron) in the mountains of Judah.

8 And on the other side of the Jordan, by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness on the plain, from the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead, from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan, from the tribe of Manasseh.

9 These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel and for the stranger who dwelt among them, that whoever killed a person accidentally might flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood until he stood before the congregation.

As you can see, God reserved 6 cities to protect anyone who kills another unintentionally. This shows the extent to which God hates jungle justice.

God hates jungle justice that was why he provided 6 cities of refuge for intentional killers

He reserved

1. Kedesh in Galilee as a city of refuge

2. Shechem in the mountains of Ephraim as a city of refuge

3. Kirjath Arba (which is Hebron) in the mountains of Judah as a city of refuge

4. Bezer on the other side of Jordan as a city of refuge

5. Ramoth in Gilead a a city of refuge

6. Golan in Bashan as another city of refuge

Mind you, God would have taken another position if the killing of the baby in the womb was intentional.

How do I know that?

Let me show you. From now on, you will begin to see the Bible allusion of abortion.

ONAN AND TAMAR

Genesis 38:1-10

1 It came to pass at that time that Judah departed from his brothers, and visited a certain Adullamite whose name was Hirah.

2 And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua, and he married her and went in to her.

3 So she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name Er.

4 She conceived again and bore a son, and she called his name Onan.

5 And she conceived yet again and bore a son, and called his name Shelah. He was at Chezib when she bore him.

6 Then Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.

7 But Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord killed him.

8 And Judah said to Onan, "Go in to your brother's wife and marry her, and raise up an heir to your brother."

9 But Onan knew that the heir would not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in to his brother's wife, that he emitted on the ground, lest he should give an heir to his brother.

10 AND THE THING WHICH HE DID DISPLEASED THE LORD; THEREFORE HE KILLED HIM ALSO.

Onan and Tamar before God killed Onan for wasting his sperm on the floor

Hope you understand the part I underlined in that Genesis 38?

The Lord killed the second born of Judah in that part of the Bible.

Without repeating the incident, you already read of what Onan did. For the sake of emphasis, he poured his semen (sperm) on the floor while having sex with Tamar because he didn't want to raise up children from Tamar for his brother.

The Bible says God killed him for doing that. God killed him for wasting sperm. This is why I pity those who masturbate and says the Bible has nothing to say about masturbation.

To reinforce your understanding on why God killed Onan for what we people call ORDINARY SPERM, let me drive home an important point.

You see the sperm that comes out from man to the woman's body before the union leads to pregnancy contains atleast ONE UNFORMED CHILD.

Consequently, when a man brings out sperm from his body, he has automatically become a murderer except the sperm goes into a woman's body or is preserved as they do in the lab. You should know a preserved sperm in the lab is more or less like preserving the life of the baby in the sperm.

So, God killed Onan for killing AN UNFORMED CHILD.

Now, what is abortion?

Abortion is simply the "deliberate" termination of A FORMED CHILD.

Sensibly, if God can kill someone for killing an "unformed" child, what do you think he will do to someone who kills a "formed" child?

Your guess is as good as mine.

Relatably, that Onan's case is what we call Bible allusion to abortion in biblical study. So, who then says the Bible is silent on abortion?

DONALD TRUMP VS KAMALA HARRIS

Donald Trump is against abortion while Kamala Harris wants every American to earn the right to abort at anytime they want.

"In the same way, when we represent God as someone who wants to destroy America because FORTY MILLION BABIES HAVE BEEN ABORTED IN OUR COUNTRY, we perpetuate the very problem we are trying to cure," Prophet Kris Vallotton.

It is on this Christian perspective on abortion that is causing so much division among Americans.

Former president of United States of America, Donald Trump, is doing all he can to ensure abortion right is banned, but the vice president of America, Kamala Harris is of the contrary opinion.

In fact, Kamala Harris is so emotional about abortion right that she is ready to go any length to ensure an average American has the right to abort at any time they want without any fear of being judged or criticized.

Although she feels abortion is necessary to save the life of pregnant women who experience complications during labor, on the other hand, Donald Trump feels that in such cases abortion should be the last resort and not the first.

This is one of the reasons why a good chunk of Christian populace from different parts of the world prefers Donald Trump to Kamala Harris so that this nation can be more exalted with a righteous act.

Proverbs 14:34
RIGHTEOUSNESS exalts a nation, But SIN is a reproach to any people.
