And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
Job 1:7-8 (KJV)
If you think about this question, before you continue reading, you will realize the importance of living righteous.
Who could have thought God was watching Job for 70 years before he was tested?
Surprisingly, God was not only interested in Job, but also in everyone on Earth. “There is none like him in the earth,” Job 1:8 this means God was watching everyone on Earth when he made the statement. I wonder how many people was on Earth when he made the statement. He was interested in everyone, but only Job caught his attention. God is unchangeable. He is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. He is still into the business of watching everyone. Nothing can be hidden from him. In fact, he has been watching you from birth up to this very moment. All you did in secret is not hidden from him.
God revealed to Satan that Job was perfect, upright, feared him, hate evil and full of integrity.
That is job, what about you? Job was not privileged to this vital information about himself. He was not there when God bragged about him. Unlike the time of Job, we can figure out what God is saying about us. I believe before you finish reading this post; you will know exactly what God is saying about you.
Family and Friends Assessment.
Although family and friends can be inaccurate about their report of you, some of their reports are worth considering. Do not assume everyone's report about you is false. If someone gives 90% inaccurate report about you, there is possibility that the remaining 10% is accurate. All you need, from the report, is the 10%. That 10% is part of what God is saying about you.
After Job lost everything, the wife pressurized him to curse God and die. She tried to make her husband commit sin after she had given an accurate report. “Then the wife said into him, do you still retain your integrity? Job 2:9. She revealed to Job that he was a man of integrity. Job's wife had never hear from God; she had no clue on the conversation of God with Satan. God, in his report, revealed to Satan that Job retained his integrity after losing all he had.
Praise the Lord
And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
Job 2:3 (KJV)
Coincidentally, the wife’s report was exactly God's assessment. You need to listen to the report of the closest people to you. Some may add up false information, but be rest assured some of their reports are accurate.
Unfortunately for Job, he had lost all his children, so he could not get a report from them. He was left with his wife and three friends. These three friends — Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar— came to see him when they heard of his misfortune. Most of their reports were false. Bildad called him an hypocrite, Zophar called him a liar, and Eliphaz thought he committed a secret sin. All of the aforementioned reports were false; however, Eliphaz mentioned Job’s uprightness. “is not this your fear, your confidence, your hope, and the uprightness of your ways?” Job 4:6. The question revealed Job was upright based on the report of Eliphaz, the Temanite. Hope you’ve not forgotten God said Job was upright? Eliphaz was correct about his report on uprightness, but he was wrong about his report on secret sin.
In other words, family and friends' reports, after taking off the false report, are exactly the report of God. Do not turn deaf hear to the reports of people in your church, house and place of work.
People may lie, so always separate the chaff from the wheat of their report. Then you will have an accurate report of God about you.
Circumstances Reveal Real Identity.
Another method of figuring out God’s report is by studying yourself during difficult times. Circumstances, mostly the bad ones, reveal the real us.
What do you do when you are angry?
How do you behave when you don’t have money?
What do you say after a big loss?
It will surprise you that you are quite a different person during tough times. The person you are when someone offend you is the real you. Also, the person you are when people insult you is the real you. Truth be told, circumstances change many of us. Examine yourself during tough times and you will realize the report of God is not farfetched.
In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
Job 1:22 (KJV)
After losing all his children, 7 sons, 3 daughters and his properties, Job was still the same person he had been before he lost his possessions. I’ve seen people change after they lost children. Especially people who lost children while serving God. To them, it seems God was not fair. After spending years treating an ailment, some Christians can begin to doubt the word of God. I thought Job had suffered enough until I realized the level of boils Satan brought on him. Imagine the smell and pain he must have felt. It must have been a kind of leprosy because it covered every part of his body. It was beyond what anyone could envisage. His friends could not recognize him when they came to see him. After they realized he was the one, they cried — grown up men cried at the sight of their friend. They could not utter a word for seven days. More so, they could not do anything, both day and night, for seven days. The level of boil, they saw, amazed them. In all these, the Bible says
… Job sinned not…
Devil’s Report
And Satan answered the Lord, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.
Job 2:4-5 (KJV)
- Devil cannot give a good report about anyone. He has always been a liar. In fact, he is the father of all liars. You don’t need to scrutinize his report because you won’t get any truth from it. When God told him about Job, he gave God a false report, which made God to test his servant, Job. After the test, God confirmed Job was exactly who he told Satan that he was. The devil was not satisfied. Then he demanded for another test by giving God another false information about Job. He said Job would curse God if his skin and bones were touched in an evil way. That report made God to accept the second test. After the test, he didn’t curse God even though he suffered serious boil. Looking up to the devil for a good report about you is setting up yourself for destruction. You can never get an accurate report of you from satanic instruments, satanic church and satanic personalities. Satan can never favor anyone. He doesn’t care about the person who wants a report. He is a cunny person who is always ready to destroy. If he could give Adam and Eve a false report about God, he will definitely give bad report about anybody. He told Eve that God lied about the tree in the midst of the garden. He deceived Eve with a false report, which led to the fall of mankind. You need to be weary of any report you hear from someone who has a connection with the devil or his instruments. Someone who is possessed with a devilish spirit can never give you an accurate report, although the report may be good.
Stay away from Satan.
The Most Accurate Report.
The best method of getting an accurate report of yourself is by knowing yourself. You will definitely know when you are lying to yourself. You know when you are deceiving yourself. Your conscience is always on guide so that you can know your real self.
When Jesus was 12 years old, he stayed back at Jerusalem after the feast of passover. His parents thought he would come back with one of their people. He was in Jerusalem in the midst of Bible scholars going about God's business. Eventually, Mary, Jesus mother, found him among Bible scholars and told him how sorrowful she had been. The response of Jesus at the age of twelve (12) — about God's business — revealed he knew who he was. So, knowing yourself is very important. In fact, the knowledge you have about yourself is exactly what God is saying about you, probably to his angels or Satan.
