What Most Preachers Don't Tell Us About The Holy Spirit

Having knew the thought of the Pharisees, Jesus seized the opportunity to give extra caution to them, and of course to us all, not to think the Spirit of God was like him.  The statement Jesus made on that day brought us to a realization that Holy Spirit is quite different — in fact, "far far" different — from God the Father and God the Son. If you really know God the Father and God the Son quite well, and you relate to Holy Spirit the same way you relate to them, in no time, you will realize you've beaten more than you can chew. From this expository and thought-provoking post, you will learn a lot of things that most Bible preachers don't tell us — or forget to tell us — about the 3rd triune God, Holy Spirit. First, let me show you something fascinating in the Bible. Judges 9:7-15 7 Now when they told Jotham, he went and stood on top of Mount Gerizim, and lifted his voice and cried out. And he said to them: “Listen to me, you men of Shechem, That God may listen to yo...

Why Are You Not Using This Spiritual Power?

Moving from one place to another without carrying out a physical movement

It's ridiculous to say Christians are not aware of the power inherent in christianity. As our Lord and savior told us in Acts 1:8...

But you shall receive POWER when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Assuredly and to reiterate the words of Jesus above, you can't receive the Holy Spirit without being endowed with power.

Of course, in the old testament days, this power was so scarce that people travel long distance to witness its manifestation in the lives of few, selected people like Elijah, Elisha, Othniel, Gideon, King Saul and Samson.

Today, as the Spirit has been poured in no small measure upon all, based on the promise of the Father as prophesied by Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 44:3...

For I WILL POUR WATER on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I WILL POUR MY SPIRIT on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring.

I WILL POUR MY SPIRIT on your descendants Isaiah 44:3

Evidently, the power that comes from the Holy Spirit is now made available in almost every corner of the world. Therefore, the manifestation of it should be a commonplace, but the opposite is the case.

How can there be MORE manifestation of a power in the old testament days when the power was scarce than now when the power is made MORE readily available?

At this juncture, I need to mention this that a lot of Christians now think that the deliberate use of the power of the Holy Spirit bestowed on them is an act of tempting the Almighty God.

Unfortunately, it is this kind of wrong thinking that has drastically reduced the manifestation of the power of the Holy Spirit right in his dispensation. I will talk more about that pretty soon.

Moving on...

If I have to mention all the things an individual is capable of doing as a result of the outpouring of this spirit of God, this post will end up being a whole chapter of a book.

So, without mincing words, I will focus on just one out of numerous things the power of the Holy Spirit can do so that you can understand what I'm driving at.

I assure you that before you finish reading this piece, you will realize that almost everyone in the christendom is not using this particular power the Holy Spirit bestows on him or her.

SPIRITUAL TRANSPORTATION

Acts 8:26-40

26 Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, "Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." This is desert.

27 So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship,

28 was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet.

29 Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go near and overtake this chariot."

30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?"

31 And he said, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.

32 The place in the Scripture which he read was this: "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth.

33 In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth."

34 So the eunuch answered Philip and said, "I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?"

35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.

36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?"

37 Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."

38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.

39 Now when they came up out of the water, THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD CAUGHT PHILIP AWAY, SO THAT THE EUNUCH SAW HIM NO MORE; and he went on his way rejoicing.

40 But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea.

From that long Bible verse you just read above, I intentionally capitalized and underlined the 39th verse so that you can pay more attention to what the Holy Spirit did to Philip.

Of course, we all know the story. To the Ethiopian eunuch in that story, he must have mistook Philip for an angel sent from heaven to him after he witnessed the power of the holy Spirit, as manifested in the life of Philip right before his eyes.

Holy Spirit transported or teleported him spiritually to Azotus, which was a city recorded to be several miles away from that desert situated between Jerusalem and Gaza where Philip met the Eunuch.

Philip was teleported or transported spiritually to Azotus after explaining the book of Isaiah to the Ethiopian eunuch

This amazing story, no doubt, reveals and confirms this function of the power of the Holy Spirit.

It was this same teleporting function we found in John 6:16-21, too...

16 Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea,

17 got into the boat, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was already dark, and Jesus had not come to them.

18 Then the sea arose because a great wind was blowing.

19 So when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid.

20 But He said to them, "It is I; do not be afraid."

21 Then they willingly received Him into the boat, and IMMEDIATELY THE BOAT WAS AT THE LAND WHERE THEY WERE GOING.

Hope you can see the part of the verse I capitalized and underlined again?

No way would the disciples of Jesus denied this teleporting power as they witnessed it, first hand, while on the sea sailing toward Capernaum.

John, who was there in the boat, said in his write up that IMMEDIATELY Jesus entered the boat, the boat got to the seashore.

Jesus and his disciples were teleported or transported spiritually to the seashore by the Holy Spirit

The word "immediate"  Apostle John used in that verse was simply to bring home his point of the exact thing that happened on the river body.

I'm quite sure that the disciples in the boat were still preparing to paddle the boat after Jesus entered it, but as if it was a stroke of magic, they SUDDENLY appeared at the seashore.

Isn't that a teleporting experience or what we call spiritual transportation, which is the instant movement of someone from one place to another without carrying out a physical movement?

DELIBERATE USE OF THE POWER OF GOD

Notably, in those two instances cited above, the teleporting or spiritual transportation power of the Holy Spirit was not deliberately used by Philip or Jesus and his disciples. And that doesn't mean this power can't be used deliberately.

I think this is the right time for me to correct that erroneous thinking that it is an act of temptating God to try to use this teleporting power of the Holy Spirit to travel to far distance when there is a physical means of transportation like cars, trains and aeroplane.

Onward, permit me to start with the temptation of Jesus as written in Matthew 4:1-11

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.

3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread."

4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' "

5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple,

6 and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: 'He shall give His angels charge over you,' and, 'In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.' "

7 Jesus said to him, "It is written again, 'You shall not tempt the Lord your God.' "

8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.

9 And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me."

10 Then Jesus said to him, "Away with you, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.' "

11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

On this temptation of Jesus, I've heard and read hundreds of thousands of different interpretations from different people. For me, I don't think turning stone to bread or Jesus jumping off the pinnacle of the temple was the issue here. The real deal was that all of those things expected of Jesus was THE IDEA OF THE DEVIL.

And God will never EVER dance to the tune of the Devil.

If he could feed 5,000 people with 5 loaves and 2 fish and turned water to the purest and finest of all wines, what is difficult there in turning stones to bread?

If he could arrive in heaven from the earth by means of ascension, considering the distance of heaven from the earth, then what is there in jumping an ordinary pinnacle of a temple whose height is not even up to the towel of Babel?

Evidently, Jesus refused to do all those things because they were the idea of the Devil.

As we read, what Jesus did after that time were more than enough to prove his deity.

In essence, there is nothing bad in proving that there is no God is like the God of Israel as Elijah did on Mount Carmel...

Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and THE GOD WHO ANSWERS BY FIRE, HE IS GOD." (1 Kings 18:24)

More so, there is nothing bad in Jesus proving that God sent him when he raised Lazarus, too, from the dead...

Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, THAT THEY MAY BELIEVE that You sent Me." (John 11:41-42)

Definitely, nothing will be wrong if any other person does anything to glorify God.

In other words and to reiterate myself, the deliberate use of the power the Holy Spirit bestowed on us is not an act of tempting the Almighty God.

Therefore, if you teleport yourself to London from Nigeria to minister on a crusade ground after rejecting a private jet ride from the host, you've done well to prove to everyone in London that indeed there is no God like our God.

Especially the "white folks," they believe spiritual transportation or teleporting is nothing but a fiction which appears in fictional films. So, witnessing this act live will be more than enough to draw many to Christ.

This reminds me of Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola — the founder of Christ Apostolic Church — who never boarded a plane or been to the airport, yet travel overseas for ministration.

According to reputable sources, I was told that at any time he was called for a ministration he ensured all his ministers traveled with him, no matter how far the distance might be.

Once they were set for a ministerial journey, Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola would put every of his ministers up in a room, and they would all pray till everyone of them disappears into thin air, of course, that was a deliberate use of the teleporting power of the Holy Spirit.

Mind you, that was not a one-time thing, as I was informed, he did that times without paying attention to the number of times he did it.

As pleasant as the experience was for him and his ministers, his first spiritual transportation was not palatable. Or you should we say it was, but what necessitated it was unpalatable.

In details, his wife — with her usual devilish acts — locked up the door and ran off with the key in an attempt to prevent him from ministering in an open air crusade.

As he bemoaned the incident and prayed about it, God told him to touch the wall of the room and surprisingly he found himself on the crusade ground.

Since then, spiritual transportation or teleporting became a normal experience for him.

To add to that, another minister of God was invited abroad to help heal a CEO of a company.

In a bid of ensuring smooth traveling for the Man of God, they bought his airline ticket and paid for all the other documents needed for overseas traveling. To their utmost surprise, he accepted to come heal the business tycoon but turned down all the traveling documents and airline ticket.

These people who came from overseas must have been utterly confused and probably mistook his statement for a joke.

As he rescinded not his decision, they all traveled back to their country to inform their boss of what transpired between them and the man of God.

When they eventually arrived in their country, they discovered their boss was already hale and hearty. To their astonishment, their boss told them a man of God came over to heal him.

In no time, they requested for the physical description of the man, and the physical features he mentioned was the exact look of the Man of God they traveled thousands of miles to call in Nigeria.

Meaning, the man of God got to their country abroad before them, healed their boss and arrived back in Nigeria before the Aeroplane they boarded took off at the airport.

This man of God is no other person other than this well known — with all due respect — crippled man of God with extremely long dreaded hair named: Moses Orimolade Tunolase who is the founder of C&S church.

Now, these two Nigerian christians did all they could in their time to make us understand that the teleporting power of the Holy Spirit can be harnessed through a deliberate use. So, my question is why are we Christians of nowadays no longer using this particular spiritual power?
