The fear of the unknown is enough to paralyze the faith of any strong man or woman. Having faith in yourself or your ability is not enough to sustain your breath — life. It is only faith in God that can do all things.
Many strong, powerful and intelligent people are lying down in cemeteries, waiting for the eternal judgment which will determine their final resident: Heaven or hell. So, it is not by your power or might that you are alive.
Jesus, himself, made the statement after resurrecting from the dead that anyone who believes would see some signs: He or she will not be hurt by...
1. Snakes
2. Poison
Let me quote him directly from the Bible.
“And these signs will follow those who believe…They will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:17-18
Snakes are one of the animals human beings cannot afford to allow around their vicinity. From the days of Adam and Eve, the animal has proven to be an enemy.
In Genesis 3:15 ("And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”), God put enmity between us and snakes after Satan used the animal to deceive Eve. The enmity made the animal to attack human beings. Likewise, we, too, do all we can to kill it whether it attack us or not.
As venomous as this animal is, Jesus revealed that a belief in him will make anyone to take it up without being harmed.
Many people can testify to his word as they witnessed men of God who picked up venomous snakes without suffering its bite.
"But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand."
Apostle Paul in Acts 28:3 above unknowingly took a viper. The people who saw it thought that would be the end of him. Surprisingly, he shook the viper off his hand without getting hurt. That Confirmed the word of the Son of God in Mark 16.
Secondly, any deadly poison cannot hurt anyone who believes in him. Mind you, the Bible verse laid emphasis on the word ‘if’. The statement was a conditional one which means you must not attempt to test God by taking poison.
If it happens by accident or someone decides to hurt you by poisoning you, as long as you believe in Jesus, it will not hurt you.
It pays to believe in Jesus.
