And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
God is not a man; his attributes are quite different from ours. Mistakes are inevitable for human beings, never for God.
He cannot make mistake. After he created all things, he,Genesis 1:31, saw everything that he had made and behold it was very good.” Everything he created was very good, including man. It is impossible for a corrupt tree to being forth a good fruit. If the raw material is good, the product will, definitely, be good. More so, if the raw material is very good, the finished product will be very good. God attested to the fact that his handiwork –man and woman – was very good. This means the raw product must have been very good. Surprisingly, out of all the substances on Earth, at the time of creation, he chose dust.
If scientists were present during creation, they would have questioned the use of dust. After all, he wanted to create a being after his likeness. A better material, better than dust, should have come to mind. Instead, God chose a mere particle of solid matter. The question that keeps coming to mind is why dust?
Why dust?
God didn’t choose dust because it contains Calcite, Dolomite, Quartz or Clay minerals. Although, in the chemical composition of dust, Calcite has more use than any other minerals, even clay mineral is the most important adsorbent in soil. In addition, chemical companies can't underestimate the use of Dolomite in neutralizing acid. A scientifically oriented christian would have assumed God chose the raw material, dust, due to the importance of its chemical components. Far from it, the series of events that took place after creation revealed the reason our creator chose dust. Not being acquainted with the event is the reason many people are scared of the devil. You will realize, after reading this post, the devil – as powerful as he is – is very limited.
In fact, God had the devil in mind during the work of creation.
And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.
And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.
Exodus 7:8-11 (KJV)
And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.
20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.
21 And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.
22 And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments:
Exodus 7:19-22
And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.
6 And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.
7 And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.
Exodus 8:5-7 (KJV)
And the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.
17 And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.
18 And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not:
Exodus 8:16-18 (KJV)
That event revealed the intention of God at the time of creation. He knew, at one point or the other, the devil would seek people to devour.
Supremacy of God
Considering the works of the devil, God opted in for the best raw material that the devil would not be able to manipulate. Had God chosen another raw material besides dust in the creation of man, the devil would have gotten a chance to attack us without any restriction.
The magicians of Egypt with their enchantments transformed rod to snake, turned water to blood, brought out frogs from water, but they couldn’t manipulate dust. It was a big revelation to Moses and Aaron. Their inability, the magicians, to perform a miracle with the use of dust made them realize the supremacy of God. It dawn on them that the only person who can manipulate dust is the almighty. So the devil cannot – do not have the power – attack human beings because we are made with a raw material that he cannot manipulate: He cannot harm any man or woman. When dust is involve, his powers are nothing to write home about. The only one who can deal with dust is the Alpha and Omega. No wonder he chose dust at the time of creation.
Dust is powerful
Believe you me, whether you know it or not, you are powerful. You are made of a material which the evil one cannot tamper with. When Job was on Earth, God discussed with Satan. He asked him if he had ever consider job, his servant. God was so proud to have someone like Job. He was perfect and upright. He was a man who considered God in all his dealings.
The Almighty could not just keep his thought about him in his mind, he called Satan to come so that he could share his thought with him. Satan told God the reason behind Job's action. He thought Job’s riches had something to do with his love for his Maker. To support his unfounded claim, he told God to destroy Job's possessions. God agreed to test his servants so that he could prove his assertion. Then he instructed Satan to go ahead and tamper with the things Job had. On record, Job had seven sons and three daughters. Even his substance shew he was one of the richest men in the world. He had 7000 Sheeps 3000 Camels, 500 oxen, 500 Asses.
Had God not given Satan the power to Tamper with his possessions, he wouldn't have been to destroy them. After destroying his possessions, God admitted to destroying him, Job. So, it was not Satan, Per say, that perpetuated the act. God was involved, without his involvement no one can manipulate dust. Even Moses and Aaron could not bring out lice from dust without the help of God. He, Job, lost his children and the substances. Yet he was not moved or disturbed. God was quick to talk about is integrity in the presence of Satan, after the first destruction. Being a cunny person, he made mention of Job's skin, product of dust. He told God to touch his bone and flesh so that Job would, perhaps, curse God. This shows the devil cannot tamper with dust. God had to back him up again, for the second time, before he could touch Job's skin. This proves how useless the power of Satan is; he cannot manipulate dust except God gives him the power.
Job 1:21 “the Lord give and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord,” revealed Job knew it was God, never Satan. He knew, being a dust, the devil cannot manipulate or destroy him. The opposite is the case in our generation, christians are quick at pointing accusing finger at the devil. They've forgotten that only God has the power over us. Apart from God, it is only sin that can give Satan the chance of tampering with anyone. To render him, Satan, useless you need to avoid sin at all time because the devil is always walking up and down the earth seeking whom he may devour.
Lastly, man or woman can commit sin; dust cannot sin without the help of human beings. For instance, gun cannot kill except someone uses it to kill. Dust is innocent, sinless and blameless. If you commit sin, your soul is at stake. Your skin is never at fault. At any point in time you commit sin, your skin –which is dust – knows. In fact, it may stand against you on the judgement day. It is the best testifier one can ever find because it stays with you all the days of your life.
At Antioch in Pisidia, Paul and Barnabas shook off the dust of their feet against the Jews who sent them out of the city. That practice was made known by the son of God Jesus Christ.
And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.
Luke 9:5 (KJV)
Dust will stand against people on the day of judgement. You have to be steadfast in Christ. Sin is never an option. Do not give the devil the power to manipulate you and your family. Praise the Lord
