Let me reveal the secret by quoting Jesus directly: “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven nor the Son, but only the Father.” Mark 13:32
According to Jesus in the statement above, only God knows the day and the time he will come back. Even though the second coming is all about his return to the earth so as to gather all the saints to himself, he doesn’t know the exact day it will be.
The angels and any other person are not privileged to know this piece of information. It is one of the close guarded secrets in Heaven.
No prophet can prophesy the hour or the day. Jesus warned his disciples on Mount Olive about the false prophets and false christs who will deceive the people on earth before his second coming. If possible, the very elect — the selected jews — will be deceived.
Secrets belong to God. In his providence, he reveals them to anyone he wants. In fact, he hardly do
anything without, first, revealing it to his prophets. That is why prophets are always the first and last resort when secrets about anything need to be revealed and known.
It is still a mystery as to why Jesus, himself, does not know the day.
It would have been unbelievable if it was a man that said Jesus didn’t know this secret — after all, he is the son of God, he knows all things.
Surprisingly, he mentioned it by himself. The three closest disciples — Peter, James and John — of him could bear witness to what he said because they were the ones who asked him about the sign of the age to come before he answered them and gave this unbelievable information.
As the Son of God stated in the book of Mark, don’t be deceived, his second coming is a secret in heaven. If it is a secret in the heaven, don’t expect anyone on earth to know it. God is not a magician he works according to principles.
As everyone is hoping to see him, it will be better for him or her to prepare always for his return. No wonder he said his coming will be more or less like a thief coming in the night... "watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” Matthew 24:42-44
It is better to be prepared than to be caught unaware. No matter how long the day seems to be delayed, he will come back as stated by him even though he doesn’t know the hour. He is not a man that can lie.
